    The institute currently operates eight research platforms: the Gene and Health Platform, Hockey Stick (Composite Materials) Research Platform, New Battery Materials R&D Laboratory, Intelligent Manufacturing Experimental Platform, Intelligent Unmanned Systems Laboratory, Cluster Intelligence International Innovation Laboratory, Aircraft Internal Combustion Engine Performance Laboratory, Applied Nanophotonics Platform, and Advanced Interconnection and Heterogeneous Integration Laboratory. Using these platforms and centers as fundamental units, it has established a "virtual-physical integration" multi-center research network, exploring the cultivation of multiple virtual innovation teams focused on cutting-edge scientific issues. This network brings together a high-level research team comprising internationally renowned scholars, national-level innovation leaders, and outstanding young researchers.


    The institute closely aligns with international academic frontiers and national strategic needs, adhering to the university's medium- and long-term development goals. It focuses on key areas such as new materials, information network security, biomedicine, ecological civilization, data science, artificial intelligence, and aerospace. Emphasizing a "high-precision, cutting-edge, and urgently needed" orientation, the institute prioritizes major scientific challenges, interdisciplinary integration, top-tier innovative talent, and a high-level academic ecosystem. By breaking disciplinary, departmental, and institutional barriers, it drives scientific innovation paradigms and strives to create "talent hubs" and "academic hubs". The institute comprehensively explores mechanisms for interdisciplinary collaboration and emerging disciplinary growth points, gathering and cultivating world-class research teams with international academic influence and significant contributions to national science and technology. This approach aims to achieve breakthroughs in forward-looking fundamental research and the industrialization of pioneering scientific achievements.


    In the future, the institute will establish 5-8 high-level research teams across various disciplines, advance R&D projects or key initiatives within its eight existing platforms, and collaborate with leading enterprises in Shenzhen through university-industry partnerships. It will also incubate high-tech companies to promote the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, providing comprehensive support for the university's goal of becoming a world-class institution with integrated multidisciplinary and technological-industrial characteristics.
